Balcony Pigeon Research

Summary

I feed around 20 pigeons every day. The goal of this data was to find out what would be the ideal time to wake up to make sure all 20 pigeons are fed, leaving no stragglers.

This line chart contains three months' worth of data for February, March, and April, where data was collected every day and averaged for each month.

Findings

From my findings, it seems 10 am-11 pm is when most pigeons show up to eat. Matching up with my schedule on most days! It seems the pigeons have adapted their schedule to match my schedule as well.

Summary

February sees 3 baby pigeons, followed by March, 14, and April with 34.

Findings

Spring weather has a big impact on the number of pigeons I see. The number of pigeons being higher in April in the pigeon sightings chart is concurrent with the number of baby pigeons sighted in this chart.

Summary

This chart shows the most common activities between the different age groups of pigeons from eating, fighting, and courting.

Findings

Baby pigeons, or juvenile pigeons, are focused on food. They seemed to only attack other pigeons that were younger than them. Meanwhile, the adults caused the most chaos. They were involved in everything at once and caused me to start counting who broke peace on the balcony in the first place. Senior pigeons seemed to be respected the most. They, along with the juvenile pigeons caused the least ruckus.
